Searching for a song song

When looking for a song I had to consider what genre I would be doing and the message of the song and how I would create my artist image based of all these factors. Initially I had chosen to do create and music video to a friend of mines song who was an Indie artist, however she was unavailable to film due to a busy schedule also after reviewing with my teacher we decided that the R&B genre would be a better route for me to take. 


Finding an artist who is unsigned who sound i liked was a simple process. As there were many sites  to search for an artist such as, www.unsigned.com ,www.soundcloud.com and www.youtube.com. All these sites are a forum for undiscovered individuals to post their own material for recognition. To narrow the search I specifically typed in R&B in the genre toolbar  to filter out any unwanted genre music. 




I wanted an artist that had an authentic and unique sound, so I narrowed the search to a YouTube search of 3 female artists,Haley Alexis and Tabitha King which where both artist on Unsigned.com, however i listened to their songs and neither of them had the sound i was looking for the both had poor quality tracks


 I ended up choosing Nicoya Polar-Superman who is an solo female artist i found on YouTube . To begin with I wasn't so sure about her sound but after listening to the track and reading the lyrics I found it very catchy as well as simple.This made it very easy to come up with many concepts as I has seen music videos with similar lyrics.
