Video - Treatment

Outline: For my Music video, I plan of portraying a young female artist, is very successful, and has everything going for her however her love life is not exactly the same. Her dedication is is to her career is her priority. She feels that she attracts the wrong guys and is wanting  to find a guy who will love her for herself and is ready to settle down.

in order for me to have a good representation of my artist i had to research into artist who i would want my artist to be likened with. For example female artist such as Beyonce, Kelly Rowland,Mariah  are all successful women who I would like for my artist to be associated with.I plan of making the music video  narrative based as i wan to tell the artist story and gain potential audience. I want to produce a music video that is in some ways similar to beyonces 's ' If i were a boy' i feel that it focuses on the narrative to translate the artists emotions to the audience and help them understand her view point and that she is human too.

History of Music

Music is the art of  vocal or instrumental sounds /the both combined to  produce beauty of form,    harmony, and expression of emotion.  Music is first seen in the phrehistoric times ,but in the early Renaissance era , it came with themes of  passion and love wheres before hand it was just sound that did not convey any emotion.
Music in this era really started to develop and became part of their daily life.  Musicians now worked for church's, courts and towns and  music was related to wealth as Kings and princes competed for the best  composers.

It is believed that the first ever music recording was made by Thomas Edison in 1877, when he recored 'Mary had a Little Lamb' on his new invention- the phonograph. However it was actually discovered that 17 years prior to 'mary had a Little Lamb' there was indeed the first ever recored music, which was by a woman singing a french folk song 'Claire de  la lune' in 1860. It was recorded by a “phonautograph”, which etches waveforms onto paper.

Contacting the Artist

After listening to number of songs i found one that i really liked and thought i could create a successful music video to : 'Superman' by Nicoya Polar decided to email the artist and request for permission to use the song.
To my disappointment i unfortunately did not receive a response.I did however gave credit to the artist and producer at the beginning of my video.

Searching for a song song

When looking for a song I had to consider what genre I would be doing and the message of the song and how I would create my artist image based of all these factors. Initially I had chosen to do create and music video to a friend of mines song who was an Indie artist, however she was unavailable to film due to a busy schedule also after reviewing with my teacher we decided that the R&B genre would be a better route for me to take.

Finding an artist who is unsigned who sound i liked was a simple process. As there were many sites  to search for an artist such as, www.unsigned.com ,www.soundcloud.com and www.youtube.com. All these sites are a forum for undiscovered individuals to post their own material for recognition. To narrow the search I specifically typed in R&B in the genre toolbar  to filter out any unwanted genre music.

I wanted an artist that had an authentic and unique sound, so I narrowed the search to a YouTube search of 3 female artists,Haley Alexis and Tabitha King which where both artist on Unsigned.com, however i listened to their songs and neither of them had the sound i was looking for the both had poor quality tracks

I ended up choosing Nicoya Polar-Superman who is an solo female artist i found on YouTube . To begin with I wasn't so sure about her sound but after listening to the track and reading the lyrics I found it very catchy as well as simple. This made it very easy to come up with many concepts as I has seen music videos with similar lyrics.
